The Crossover Cable is a Category 5 cable used to connect computing devices together directly where they would normally be connected via a network switch, hub or router. On some occasions, AVTECH Software customers will use a crossover cable to connect a Room Alert or TemPageR unit directly to a PC’s network port (instead of the network via a standard Ethernet cable) in order to locally assign an IP address or complete configuration. This may be desirable in situations where a remote installation is planned on a different network and a manager wants to have everything set up in advance.
